Pholus

Cults, Intoxication and the Divine

by Ben Belinsky

This e-book is an exploration of the astrological influence of the centaur, Pholus. It’s the first book in a series which is currently planned to look at the influence of three other centaurs: Chariklo, Nessus and Asbolus.
Pholus’ influence grows from his myth as the guardian of the sacred flask of wine gifted to the centaurs by the god, Dionysus. When Hercules persuaded Pholus to open the flask, the fumes of the wine drifted out of Pholus’ cave, enraging the other centaurs. In the stampede that ensued, Hercules fired off a volley of poisoned arrows, killing many centaurs including the seer Asbolus, accidentally killing Pholus and inflicting an incurable wound on the immortal Chiron.
This e-book digs deep into this myth and explores how the astrological influence of the solar system body named after Pholus shows up in the charts of individuals who have led or who are involved with mass movements, cults, and abusive relationships. It looks at case studies of cult leaders, cult busters, abusers and survivors of abuse to build a multifaceted picture of this important influence.

Chariklo

and the Journey to Transcendence

by Ben Belinsky

In mythology, Chariklo was the wife of the centaur Chiron. She cared for her husband after he took a hit from one of Hercules’ poisoned arrows, leaving him wounded and in agony but, as an immortal, unable to die. This is the terrible irony of Chiron, the master healer who was unable to heal himself. All Chariklo could do was to care for him, enduring the situation, not knowing how long it would last.
Here we explore the astrological influence of the asteroid named after Chariklo. Her process, her way of coping with and getting through the seemingly endless and exhausting business of caring, leads those who have this asteroid configured in their charts to find a way to endure by finding an inner strength – a personal connection to something transcendent. And having found that connection, to help others with their own process, their own journey …

Nessus

The Bad Boy of the Centaurs

by Ben Belinsky

The centaur Nessus has a bad reputation, as a conman, a scammer and a rapist; the one who caused the death of the hero Hercules. In this book we investigate the astrological influence of the solar system body named after Nessus through the lives of the famous and infamous of history: politicians, political strategists, criminals and dictators, those who have used their power and position for their own ends.
But this is not just to scare you. Nessus’ astrological role is to alert you to danger, to ‘wise up the marks’. Nessus can help you spot the scams, recognise the deceptions, sharpen your awareness of danger and increase your chances of survival. This book includes a guide to interpreting Nessus in your chart.

Asbolus

Divination and Alternative Realities

by Ben Belinsky

In Greek mythology, Asbolus was the seer of the centaurs. He could read the future in the flights of birds and interpret symbols and omens. He was able to warn Nessus of the nature of his death for example.
The influence of the solar system body named after Asbolus grants not only the ability to interpret symbols and medicine signs but also the ability to catch glimpses of alternative realities – probable futures that might or might not happen, synchronicities that suggest that mind and matter are intertwined and maybe even enhance our powers of visualisation.
In this e-book we explore the implications of Asbolus’ influence through the charts of those who are able to access probable realities: surrealist artists, science fiction and fantasy authors and those with an interest in the probable worlds of quantum mechanics.
